Orlando Latin American Film & Heritage Festival 2013

ICS trivia: All of our Producers and Field Team are of Latin American decent (including me!), representing Mexico, Cuba and Puerto Rico!]

With so many events going on this weekend, here’s one we don’t want you to forget about – OLA FEST!

“The Orlando Latin American Film & Heritage Festival (OLA FEST) is dedicated to presenting independent and new Latin American cinema, socially relevant and challenging films not readily offered in Central Florida. Part celebration and part education, OLA FEST is a community-building initiative–not just a showcase of movies– promoting an open space for passion, dialogue, conviviality, and usefulness.”

OLA FEST 2013 features a short film by local Columbian filmmaker and Full Sail graduate, Fabian Morales-Botero (Azabache Filmes), Producer Johnathan Lozano and DP Jack Barbour. His film is called “Take Me Home: Documenting the Humane Hearts.” Synopsis via Fabian’s Facebook event page for Take Me Home summarizes, “Beth Davalos a social worker featured on 60 Minutes, Arielle Metzger 16 year old featured on several TV shows and many other homeless people take Fabian Director on a journey that changes his life and introduces the viewer to the invisible homeless no one really hears about. This documentary was galvanized by a simple idea to use the cinematic arts in an attempt to raise awareness and change people‚Äôs perception of who the homeless really are. For one year and a half we follow these people as they share their life experiences being homeless on the streets. This documentary is about stories not statistics, about people not numbers, about love not hate, about life not politics, about feelings, fears & hope.”
